It was in August 2009 on the last exposure of the CPhI South America Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients - in Sao Paulo (SP, BR), which Lanza Pharma presented, amongst other things, the discovery and development of new materials relevant to the fight against the HIV virus responsible for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), AIDS.

The disease was discovered in 1981, however documentation reveals death with symptoms of AIDS 30 years earlier. By attacking the immune system, HIV positive becomes susceptible to any opportunistic virus that installs itself on your body. One dies due to small infections, which because of lack of antibody, are not attacked.

AIDS, which emerged from the crossing of two other viruses from African monkeys, is spreading rapidly around the world. Transmitted mainly through unprotected sexual contact, contaminated blood transfusions, multiple use of syringes and needles, so far the disease has no cure. However, after 29 years of its discovery,  powerful drugs that can slow the disease and breeding of the virus were developed.

Lanza Pharma, working actively in the discovery of drugs raw materials to fight the disease, has presented among innovations of antidepressants, hormones, anti-diabetics, new raw anti-AIDS, bringing to the pharmaceutical industry and infected people , good and new expectations of cure possibility.
